Interviews/Interviewee's - Mise En Scene - Locations
For interviews about the K's, we interviewed the general public (Teenagers) that we handed our Questionnaires to. We interviewed them in a college walk way to match the interviewee with the surroundings. We found priestley college the best/most appealing place to film teenagers, because it relfects their social life and the kind of people that are interested in the K's.
When we film the band, together and individually, we will be using a drum room full with posters of popular famous bands. This will reflect the music scene and refelct the bands likes and interests. There will also be a drum kit in the room which will reflect the skills and musical talent the band has.
This location for the interviews will be very ideal because it reflects popular genres and bands, and the public can relate to the K's if they like a band that is shown on one of the posters in the background.
We will also interview the producer in his studio, to show his surroundings, and his equipment to reflect his skill and profession.
When we interview the band members individually, we will also interview them in a studio to reflect where they spend their time when not out playing live or at college.
When we interview the band manager, we will interview her where she works when managing the band. In her office with all instuments and mise en scene relating the to the band.
We will also interview/film the band rehearsing in a recording studio, in and outside. If we interview them outside, they could become distracted by passing people and the band themselves are quite funny people and like to snap jokes, so keeping them indoors and away from other people stops them messing around and making it harder to interview them.
Interviews will also be done inside the rehearsal studio to show each band member with their instrument, and to show them all working together and how they are also good friends as well as other band members.
We will also interview the band manager in her office and/or working space. This will be to show the struggles she goes through to help support the band and get them their gigs. It will also reflect the emotion and connection she has with the K's. We will place pictures/posters of the K's to make it really look like she is their manager and truly involved with the band.
Interview people who don't like the K's, because this will help the viewer get a real opinion on the band, and help them make their own mind up about the K's. The Mise En Scene could be in a different location than where they normally would be, instead of being in a drum room, they could be in a computer room to show the interviewee's difference of opinion and hobbies, and reflect his background. They could also contain posters of bands that are very different to the K's, and bands like them.
Interview the manager of friars court (the venue in which the K's play) interview him in his work place to reflect his job, this will be to get an idea of the managers surroundings, and also have posters of the K's in the background to show that Friars court enjoy the band.
Secondary Research:
We did not use any archive footage, music, or still images from any other site or source. We did not want to take the attention off of the K's, we want to the viewers to be constantly thinking and wanting more information about the K's. By using a song a similar genre band but using a famous band, then the viewers attention might be on a bigger, more experienced band, therefor making them less interested in the K's.
Same goes for pictures, but we didn't want to use old photos because we want the viewer to be focusing on whats happening right now, and whats going to come by the end of the documentary.
TV Scheduling
Research and Planning
TV Schedule
The TV schedule can be easily be broken up into 6 segments starting with breakfast shows, these type of programs normally appeal to old people or young mums, this is because theses sort of people are normally home in the morning to watch TV. Next there is day time TV which again the target audience for this is old people and young mums and also the unemployed as these are the sort of people who will be home at this time. Next there is kids TV which is normally on around 4PM the time children finish school. Next there is prime time which appeals to the mass audience which is mainly families. Next there is the evening news which is just after prime time which leads into the final segment of evening shows which is after the water shed which is that violence sexual scenes and swearing can be shown after 9PM so this type of shows will be aimed at adults.
This format which has existed all most as long as TV has recently started to become irrelevant because now people can watch what they want when they want with the capabilities of the internet and catch up shows and the facility to record programs means that people can watch programs when ever they want to. I believe that prime time produces the most popular shows as it draws in the biggest audiences, during this time a lot of soap operas are shown.
Different TV channels can appeal to different people for example: BBC1 tries to appeal to the mainstream audience as it is the channel payed for by the public so they have to cater for a mass audience. BBC2 appeals more to middle class people and shows programs with a more specialist interest. ITV is BBC1s main competitor and also tries to cater for the mass audience. Channel 4 is more of an alternative channel and shows a lot of controversial programs and appeals more to teenagers and young adults and people with an open mind. And finally channel 5 also tries to be a mainstream channel but struggle to be as popular as BBC1 and ITV as they show a lot of repeats and import more then half of there shows which can some times struggle to connect with the British audience.
